World Cup Extra Time Rules Explained

Everyone is asking about the World Cup Extra Time Rules. This is require for the knockout stages of the World Cup tournament. It is needed to prevent prolonging games because of consecutive ties.

Here’s the World Cup Extra Time Rules Explanation:

First, after the 90 minutes of the play, if the game is still tie with the goal score, two 15 minutes will be allotted. The second 15 minutes won’t be needed anymore in case one team is ahead after the first 15 minutes.

Second, there is no such thing as Golden Goal Rule here. The extra time should be finished no matter what the score is. Unlike ice hockey where if one team scored in the overtime, they automatically win regardless of the time remaining.

Third, if the game is still tie after the alloted two 15 minutes, then penalty kicks will be used to determine the winner of the game.
