California socialite Lisette Lee is under arrest after being caught with 506 pounds of pot. The 28-year-old Lee allegedly flew on a private jet from the Van Nuys airport near Los Angeles to Columbus, Ohio with the marijuana in 13 suitcases. DEA agents became suspicious when they were tipped off that Lee was flying with, yes, 13 suitcases. That's a lot, even for a socialite. Lee arrived on a chartered Gulf Stream jet that cost $50,000 round trip.
Lee, who claims to be an air to the Samsung fortune, has been charged with conspiracy and possession of drugs with the intent to distribute. She's being held without bail. Her attorneys did not immediately return a message left Wednesday by the Associated Press.
According to WBNS, Lee told government agents she had no idea she was transporting drugs, but agents said they found cocaine and marijuana in her bag, along with a ledger that showed profits in excess of $300,000.
Officials say they are trying to confirm information that Lee is an heir to the Samsung electronics fortune. Agents say she told them her family has several multimillion-dollar businesses.
