World Cup 2010: Tim Howard - Don't Be Fooled, They're A Very Good Team

Tim Howard was one of the stars for the USA throughout the World Cup, making several clutch saves in throughout the tournament to keep his team alive. But even with his heroics between the pipes the USA couldn't keep from falling behind in three of their four matches, and on Saturday it proved costly.

After the match the Everton star was complementary of Ghana and the effort they put forth in knocking his team out of the tournament.

"We knew we were going to have our hands full and they gave us everything we thought they would," he said after the match. "Today I think they were the better team. I think overall we had a great opportunity but you have to prove it over 90 minutes and we didn’t do it."

Howard also alluded to their being no shame in a loss to Ghana.

"Because it wasn’t Argentina or Spain, don’t be fooled, they’re a very good team," he said.

Captain Carlos Bocanegra was not quite as complementary but still gave credit to Ghana's Asamoah Gyan for his overtime winner.

"He did well," Bocanegra told reporters. "He did well to take that goal."

But the Rennes defender still showed plenty of pride in the effort his team put forth.

"Thing is, I’m proud of the guys," he said. "We fought every game. We left everything on the field that we had. Even tonight we just kept testing our luck. We got behind the eight ball too many times this tournament and at this level when you give up this many goals you’re not going to go very far. "

The 2010 World Cup is finally here,
