Dunkin Donuts in Las Vegas keeps the coffee pumpin

Dunkin Donuts

In October of 2007, Dunkin Donuts opened up it's first stores in Las Vegas and became the first big chain to give Starbucks coffee a run for their money. It could just be coincidence, but Starbucks has had to close a good amount of stores in the pas few years. That is not to say that Starbucks is bad. It obviously is not, but Dunkin Donuts coffee is pretty amazing in it's own right. If you want a special treat give their Collata a try. The Collata is equivalent to a Starbucks Frappachino, only bigger, and less expensive.

Granted, Dunkin Donuts does not havecouches and wi-fi, which is something most coffee lovers look for in a coffee house, but it does have exquisite coffee and awesome donuts. The menu is pretty extensive, and the prices can not be beat. It is a great morning stop for many, and for many others, it actually is a daily hangout.

According to one Dunkin Donuts employee, "we have a much smoother bean then Starbucks. We do not have a plasma screen, but our coffee does not taste like coffee grounds." Another Dunkin employee, Alex Hobs said, "Friends don't let friends drink Starbucks."

There is certainly a rivalry between the two chains, but other than coffee there are not too many similarities. However, it is a hangout. People do come in and stay for three to four hours at a time just for the sunlight and the quiet. It is usually an older crowd, whereas Starbucks keeps the younger generations. Kids and families also frequent Dunkin a lot. Also, Starbucks does not have donuts.
