Los Angeles, CA, United States (AHN) - Rue McClanahan's death has hurt her "Golden Girls" co-star Betty White more than she thought. White said the loss of her dear friend struck her hard.
The 88-year-old comedienne said in a statement, "Rue was a close and dear friend. I treasure our relationship. It hurts more than I ever thought it would, if that's even possible."
McClanahan passed away Thursday at 76 after suffering a stroke.
White, who played Rose Nyland on the defunct NBC sitcom, is now the only surviving star of the show. Bea Arthur, who played Dorothy Sbornak, died April last year from cancer, while Estelle Getty, who played Sophia Petrillo, died in July 2008 from natural causes.
McClanahan's role as Blanche Devereaux gave her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in 1987.
