Notion Ink Adam tablet: Notion Ink tablet my be better than Apple iPad. Following Apple's iPad, Hyderabad based Indian technology start-up Notion Ink is to introduce a tablet, named Adam. This Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC powered device is expected to be unveiled at the ongoing Mobile Word Congress 2010 in Barcelona.
This worthy iPad competitor will be rolled out into the market in June or July with an attractive price tag that may range between $327-$800 (Rs. 15,700-Rs. 38,400 approx.).
If compared with recently Apple's iPad, Adam has got a few wonderful plus points and setbacks too. First of all, Adam weighs more than Apple's iPad. Adam runs dual-core ARM Cortex A9 CPUs carrying Nvidia Tegra 2 System-on-a-Chip. Meanwhile, Apple's tablet uses Apple's own A4 SoC silicon. Both SoC chips have capability of running at 1GHz clock speed.
iPad is with a 9.7-inch IPS LCD and 4:3 aspect ratio, while Adam will be equipped with 10-inch Transreflective LCD PixelQi screen supporting 1024x600 at the same time. Less power eating PixelQi screen will support full color along with a Black&White mode. This 10inch screen can display 1080p video playback in support of the Nvidia Tegra 2, which is also known for less power consumption.
Another specialty of Adam is that it can be operated with multiple operating systems, Android, Ubunty and Chromium, while iPad will run on OS 3.2 only. Adam will also support Adobe Flash Player thus making a better web experience.
In regards of storage, Adam offers SD card slot while iPad sticks to SSD options with 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage choices. So like iPad, Adam has been equipped with Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth to connect to the internet. Adam with three USB ports, can boast of having 3 megapixel auto focus camera, that iPad lacks.
