Friday night was one of those times as Pistons and Cavaliers players formed a circle on the Quicken Loans Arena floor to pray for Pistons point guard Rodney Stuckey, who suffered an apparent seizure during the Pistons' 99-92 loss.
"The game is much bigger than players, coaches and fans," LeBron James said. "Tonight was a game between Cleveland and Detroit, but when an instance like that happens, we all become one family."All of our prayers are with Rodney Stuckey and his family."
Stuckey collapsed on the bench during a time-out at 2:30 of the third quarter. TV replays showed Stuckey shaking in what looked to be a seizure.
After receiving medical attention and being taken to the Cleveland Clinic, he appeared to be OK.
But his teammates were shaken.
"We tried to get it back as soon as he left," Charlie Villanueva said of the Pistons failing to protect their lead. "But it's tough in that situation because you are definitely thinking about him. We definitely had him on our minds, so it was a tough game for us.
"I've never witnessed anything like that in my career. It's scary."
VOTE OF CONFIDENCE: Cavs coach Mike Brown said he has the utmost confidence that Pistons coach John Kuester will get the job done.
"John Kuester is a dear friend of mine," Brown said of his former assistant. "You feel bad for the struggles that he has to go through at this time trying to figure some things out, but he's a positive guy. He's an intelligent basketball coach.
"You know he is going to get that thing turned around or headed in the right direction. Especially you feel bad when you know injuries have a lot to do with where they are right now. They just couldn't get any rhythm the entire year, which has made it tough."
WALLACE OUT: Ben Wallace missed his second straight game with a sore right knee. He suffered the injury during Tuesday's loss to the Celtics, and there are indications that he could miss a significant amount of time.
