Houston's richest man Dan Duncan dies
Enterprise Products Partners LP Chairman Dan L. Duncan died Sunday night at his home in Houston. He was 77.
Mr. Duncan ranked No. 74 on the Forbes 2010 list of the world's billionaires, with a fortune estimated at US$9-billion.
Leaders of Houston-based Enterprise Products, Enterprise GP Holdings LP and Duncan Energy Partners LP will stay in their current roles, the partnership said Monday in a statement. Enterprise Products is the largest U.S. pipeline partnership by market value, and Mr. Duncan was the richest man in Houston.
Mr. Duncan formed Enterprise Products Co. in 1968 with $10,000 and two trucks, according to a company biography. Enterprise Products Partners owns almost 48,000 miles (77,000 kilometres) of pipelines.
