N.C. A&T's women stun Wake Forest

Three players -- Jaleesa Sams, Ta'Wuana Cook and Amber Calvin -- scored 19 points apiece to lead fast-starting N.C. A&T past Wake Forest 73-49 in the first round

of the Women's National Invitation tournament Thursday in Reynolds Varsity Gym.
The Aggies (22-10) will face Charlotte in the second round of the tournament. It was the first postseason win in a national tournament for the Aggies' program.
"Our kids brought a lot of energy tonight,'' said Bibbs. "We felt like by being in postseason play we gave our four seniors another chance to go out the right way. When we started the season they were hungry. But sometimes you have to get re-focused. And losing in the MEAC tournament got us re-focused."
Brittany Waters led the Demon Deacons (18-14) with 13 points. Senior Courteney Morris and sophomore Secily Ray had the game-high 10 rebounds.
Calvin netted 4-of-8 from beyond the 3-point line, helping the team finish 50 percent when shooting 3s and 47 percent overall. A&T jumped out to an 11-0 lead to start the game.After concluding a successful indoor campaign, the Duke University track and field team will begin the outdoor portion of its schedule this weekend, Friday, March 19 through Saturday, March 20 at the Wake Forest Open. The event, which features over 1,500 athletes from 40 different schools and organizations, will be held at the Demon Deacons' Kentner Stadium. Live scoring of the event will be available through
