The countdown to 2010 has begun. WTWO's David Shepherd joins us from downtown Terre Haute's first inaugural ball drop. David?
David Shepherd reports that a large crowd gathered at the Ohio Building on Ohio Street to welcome in the new year with a ball drop.
Students at TH North Vigo and West Vigo schools built the ball and made it operational.
The project was sponsored by Junior Achievement of the Wabash Valley.
David spoke with partygoers at the scene and commented on the revelry going on in the downtown area.
The Terre Haute ball drop celebration will close part of one street. Ohio from 6th to 7th street will be blocked off, starting at 8 p.m. tonight. It will re-open around 2 a.m. after the New Year's Eve festivities.
