Longtime sportscaster George Michael dies

Longtime sportscaster George Michael, best known as the host of the syndicated program, "The George Michael Sports Machine," has died. He was 70.

Michael, who always had a confident and boisterous style while on the air, worked in radio and television for more than 40 years. He worked on the sports desk at the NBC affiliate in Washington, D.C., from 1980 to 2007.

It was carried by KNBC Channel 4 in Los Angeles, which broadcast the program for its entire run.] When it debuted, it was one of the few sources of sports highlights and information for fans who didn't have access to cable networks such as ESPN and CNN.
