Port-au-Prince earthquake in Haiti: Scenes of devastation described Video
Eyewitnesses have been describing the scenes of devastation recently, after a massive earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale ripped through the Caribbean nation of Haiti. Widespread panic swept across the capital, as buildings began to collapse in the tremor.
Some of the buildings that collapsed included the presidential palace, hotels, a hospital and the UN headquarters in the country’s capital Port-au-Prince, leaving hundreds of people feared dead. Joel Trimble, a missionary in Haiti, said the house was rocking.
Joel went on to say how there was a cloud of dust over the capital. Rachmani Domersant, who is an operations manager with the Food for the Poor charity, said that there were people running, crying, screaming, and they’re trying to dig victims out with flashlights.
15-year old Valerie Moliere had to be helped to get out of her family’s home, by her father. When speaking to US television network ABC, she said that she couldn’t even stand up. She then went on to say that people were walking in front of her covered in blood.
