At last night’s Sugar Bowl, Tim Tebow had his own webcam and a bible on his side, which may be why his performance was the sweetest in the game’s history.
At a career high, Tebow threw 482 yards and scored three touchdowns; later he added another 51 yards and scored again. With his no. 5 team, the Florida Gators, Tebow decimated no. 4 Cincinnati Bearcats 51-24.
"This has been the best four years of life," Tebow said. "We wanted to end it on a good note."
That's an understatement - Tebow ended on 533 total yards, which is more than anyone in the history of the Bowl Championship Series. Texas' Vince Young had previously set the record at 467 yards in the 2005 Sugar Bowl.
Tebow, who is known for touting bible verses during football games, tore through the Louisiana Superdome with "Ephesians 2: 8-10" printed beneath his eyes. The reference suggests that, despite his team’s win, Tebow will not be boasting anytime soon.
The King James Version (KJV) of Ephesians 2 8 10 reads: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
To catch Tebow's brilliant performance, Foxsports had set up a live "Tebow cam," which they offered online during the Bowl; throughout the entire game, the news channel isolated on the quarterback to sate his bevy of fans.
Tebow rocked the BCS National Championship Game in New Orleans in the wake of his coach’s recent decision to take a leave of absence. Urban Meyer announced his departure from the Florida Gators last Saturday, citing health reasons after being rushed to the hospital for chest pains.
The Gators bounced back after being knocked out of the title run four weeks ago with a 32-13 loss to Alabama in the Southeastern Conference title game.
