University Interscholastic League: UIL Realignment 2010: UIL Athletics – In the University Interscholastic League’s 2010-2012 realignment, which was released this morning, moves the two Palestine school districts back to familiar ground as part of District 20-3A. Palestine and Westwood will be joined by Fairfield, Madisonville, Mexia and Groesbeck. This was the same district from four years ago before the last alignment.
For football, in Class 2A, in the first year that the classification is split into two divisions, Elkhart is in Division I and Frankston is in Division II.
The Longview Lobos, after making back-to-back trips to the state championship game in Class 4A, will return to Class 5A for at least then next two seasons.
Longview, which fell to Lake Travis in the Class 4A Division I state title game in 2008 and 2009, was moved into District 11-5A on Monday with theUniversity Interscholastic League’s biennial realignment. The Lobos will play in a district with Tyler Lee, DeSoto, Mesquite, Mesquite Horn and North Mesquite.

District 8-2A Division I — Daingerfield, Hooks, New Boston, Prairiland, Queen City and Redwater
District 7-2A Division II — Rivercrest, Como-Pickton, Cooper, Dekalb, Paul Pewitt and Paris Chisum
District 8-2A Division II — Elysian Fields, Harleton, Hughes Springs, Linden-Kildare, Ore City and Waskom
District 9-2A Division II — Arp, Frankston, Union Grove, Joaquin, West Rusk and Winona
District 9-A Division I — Big Sandy, Hawkins, Maud, Overton, Carlisle and James Bowie
District 12-A Division II — Beckville, Union Hill, Mount Enterprise and Tenaha
For the first time, Class 2A was split in two divisions, splitting the class up into large schools (Division I) and small schools (Division II) and sending just two playoff teams from each district instead of three.
